Telangana Maze

Supporters of separate Telangana have lost miserably in the recent byelections for Loksabha & assembly seats. This again raises the same old question : "Can democracy take care of unprivileged minority ?" If electorate as a whole is not matured enough, the democracy in its present form will almost always vote against unprivileged groups. In a standard form of democracy, both privileged & unprivileged persons have equal voting right !!! Because of this, at a particualr stage of economic development, mighty haves can always rule by dividing the unprivileged have-nots. This gives rise to a situation where "money goes to money" & "power goes to power". Such illogical form of democracy only promotes groupism. Minority is exploited unless & until it resorts to violent agitations. Peaceful demands of unprivileged groups are simply thrown into dustbin.
There are many advantages in having a backward region as part of your state. You candraw exorbitant funds from central government & then divert these funds to the other parts of state. That's what is happening about Telangana in Andhra Pradesh. No ruling party in AP really wants Telangana to become a separate state. Only when you are out of power, you use separate-Telangana issue for pressurising the ruling government. That's the reason why Telangana cannot become separate state even when Congress is in power. Moreover, Telangana's problem will not get solved simply by forming a separate state. Central government will always be reluctant to release funds for that separate state. Democratic institutions like assembly, judiciary, administration will prove too expensive for a smaller region like Telangana.So at present, creating continuous pressure on central as well as state government seems to be the better option for Telangana. Be careful about the overall choices you make & don't lose courage just because everyone is against you. Some of the viable choices for Telangana are --
1. Oppose Indo-US / 123 nuke deal.
2. Do not support Free Tibet movement.
3. Support Vatican City/Catholic Church while opposing Pope Benedict.
4. Support sex education in schools.
5. While opposing safron brigade, do NOT feel compelled to support Communists/Marxists/Bolsheviks. Anti-communist anti-RSS stand is the key.
6. Oppose corruption based extravagant project : SethuSamudram. Remember that Red & Safron both are hand in gloves with each other on this issue. You've to oppose both simultaneously.
