Celebdom & S. R. Tendulkar

Worth of a person (W) is the sum of his intrinsic worth (Wi) and his worth due to his access to system resources (Wasr).
That means, W = (Wi) + (Wasr)
Now the term (Wasr) is system dependent. An individual may not have much control over the term Wasr which is decided by collaborative opinion or public opinion. There can be plenty of groupism, favouritism while granting access to system resources.Under normal circumstances, media publicity & public opinion are closely related to each other. If media publicity does not get converted into favourable public opinion, then promotional efforts taken by media are wasted. High media publicity is no gurantee for favourable public opinion. If people are to vote in favour of a particular celebrity, there has to be a tangible benefit for people or else there should be some charity-related reason. In case of cricketer S. R. Tendulkar, neither of these two conditions is satisfied. On one hand, an established bigshot like Tendulkar (remember his multicrore ad-income ?) needs no charity & on the other hand, there is no incentive for those who vote in his favour. That's why in spite of his apparently brilliant performance i.e. high Wi, he doesn't have access to the resources available to the premium celebrities. This happens when a person is placed at a position in the system below a particular threshold. In spite of heavy media-publicity, people will NOT vote in favour of such person because if they do, they will incur heavy losses. If this continues for sufficiently long time, such public figure will look like Mahatma Gandhi ! That perhaps explains why Tendulkar is being equated to God of cricket.
